Datax Computer Centre

The Maltese Islands comprise three distinct Islands - Malta, Gozo and Comino. Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, the Islands lie 100 kms south of Sicily [Italy] and 290 kms from North Africa. Malta, the largest of the three Islands, is 27kms long and 14kms wide with a total population of approx 420,000 [in some 180,000 family units]. Malta is one of the most densely populated areas in the World. Since May of 2004 MALTA has formed part of the European Union.

Datax Ltd., commenced operations in 1984 - originally as a private I.T. consultancy service - and subsequently as one of the very first importer of computers and peripherals, making the Company one of the very first information technology organisation on the Island dealing directly with customers. In 1986 Datax Company Limited was formed and started operating one of the very first I.T. retail outlets on the Island.

Today Datax meets Government, corporate as well as single user requirements. In this regard the Company has been a supplier to the Central Government since way back in 1995. This, through the wholly Government owned and accredited I.T. agency - The Malta Information Technology and Training Services Ltd., (M.I.T.T.S. - formerly known as the M.S.U. - Management Systems Unit.). Datax has been proud to serve this institution for over 12 years, earning it also the official "Quality Mark" indicating the effectiveness of the Company in meeting the varied requirements and demands from Government through its various agencies.

A number of prestigious corporate institutions also make use of the services and capabilities available from Datax. These range from the supply of single user workstations to Local Area Networks hosting over 30 PC systems both Wireless and the more cable variety. Datax supplies bioth the Server hardware as the all important software which is duly set up by DATAX personell. This includes mostly Microsoft Business Servers with / without Microsoft Exchange.

For the single user Datax has proved a reference point to both the home user and a mecca to the ultra demanding hobbyist and today’s PC gamer, be it local or on line. Datax caters to the requirements both of the standard user who utilises the PC for simple tasks such as record keeping and internet access - all the way to what can be considered as the ultimate in demanding system the PC Gamer. The latter demand powerful, highly specified and reliable systems designed from the ground up to meet the exceptionally high demands of tosday’s graphically supercharged games. Datax is proud to be considered a technical reference point for the more knowledgable hobbyist PC users who inevitably demand high end components to cater for equally high end demands!


On the International front, Datax directly represents some highly prestigious World renown brand names, notable of which is the number 3 World wide PC manufacturer, ACER with whom Datax is proud to have been associated since 2004. A further World renown brand name covered exclusively by Datax is MITAC, another World class manufacturer with whom Datax has been associated since the very beginning all the way back to 1986.

The Company has been renown for a number of its "market firsts". Datax was the first to introduce the mass market PC systems - then manufactured by the British AMSTRAD, quickly followed by the surging Mitac P1000 8086 based PC (1986!). Was the first local company to introduce to the market the then astonishing mass market, single speed (!) external flip top CD Reader manufactured by Philips! Last but not least, being the very first company to introduce on the local market the very first desktop LCD screens, then the hugely expensive 14- variety, manufactured by Mitac.

Due to the ever expanding diversity in PC technology, in 1995 Datax decided to commence assembly of its own Brand PC aptly launched at a lavish dinner 12 years ago and christened "PREMIER the PC". In this connection the Company used its long standing contacts within the I.T. industry to ensure that only high quality, eminently reliable, first class components were used in the assembly of these PCs.

The PREMIER PC series had to establish a reputation commensurate with that for which the Company had become truly well known.. QUALITY, RELIABILITY, PERFORMANCE AND A REAL VALUE FOR MONEY to the Consumer.

Today the company is extremely proud with its highly specified and versatile PREMIER PC system, the latest of which is the 2007 NERO SERIES, assembled using only the most reliable branded components and tested to exacting standards to ensure a solid and performing product designed to satisfy any client’s demands .

Indeed the company is doubly proud that its PREMIER PC systems act as a reference point which others try to emulate, underlining the Company achievement as a technically superior leader in the market and enhancing its policy that in all its endeaevours it ensures a standard that is second to none.

The Company continues to seek out foreign suppliers to augment its portfolio. The basis of a relationship is one of a long term postion, something that would help to further boost the market presence of Datax within the local community and ensure that only reliable products are placed on the market .
